Overview
In rural Russia in the mid-nineteenth century, Arkardy returns home from university to his father. He brings with him a friend, Barazov, whose political and philosophical ideas become quickly at odds with the bourgeois complacency that surrounds them. Everyone’s beliefs are soon tested – with devastating consequences.
